Syndicate Concert

The Syndicate concert is an annual event, organised entirely by Upper 6th students from KEHS and KES. This year’s concert was on Saturday 30th June, only four days after the end of A-Level exams, so rehearsals were frantically packed into the week leading up to the concert.

6th Annual HiSPARC Cosmic Ray Annual Conference

This year the annual conference took place at Bath University and KEHS were represented by Lower 6th girls Blessing, Saffron and Jess who gave two talks. The first was a review of the research undertaken by all schools presented at the previous five annual conferences.

On Tuesday 26th of June, the Lower 5th Art class went Lapworth Museum of Geology. We arrived an hour before the museum opened, and had the privilege of being able to walk round the museum without anybody else present.

Sailing Competition Success

​On 30th June, Ella and Carola competed in the annual 12 hour Southport Junior Sailing Regatta for the Midland Sailing Club team. The race started at 8:00 in the morning, and the sailors (two at a time in the boat) swapped every couple of hours until the race finished at 20:00.

Model United Nations

KEHS students again received a host of awards at this year’s Withington Model United Nations conference. The conference was opened by guest speaker Lizzy Burden who is a producer for the BBC’s Politics Show and a reporter for The Times newspaper.

Annual Chess Megafinal

Physics Trip to Space Centre

The Thirds visited Leicester Space Centre and took a trip to Mars last week. Each girl had applied for their job on the trip and were put in teams to work together. They rose to the challenge and engaged well with their jobs, although some also learned that reading the instructions is a useful skill!

On 26th June, the Upper Fourth enjoyed a Robotics Revolution workshop. They learned what the word 'robot' means (from the Czech 'robota' meaning forced labour or drudgery) and how robots have developed in recent decades. After some quick challenges, the pupils split into two groups.
