HIGH PROFILE

The latest edition of High Profile is now available on our website. This is an academic magazine produced by Sixth Form girls twice a year, as part of their Friday afternoon options. The new edition includes articles from Manishaa, Eden, Anastasia, Millie, Joshmyn, Araadhna, Alina and Nada.

LUNCHTIME RECITAL

On Thursday 9th February two of our girls performed in a lunchtime recital in the Ruddock Hall. Cellist Isabel performed the first movement of Rachmaninov's lush, diverse Cello Sonata in G minor, op. 19.

HISTORY VISIT TO CIVIL WAR MUSEUM

On Thursday 9th February 32 students from the Lower and Upper 6th travelled to the market town of Newark, in Nottinghamshire, for the inaugural visit to the newly opened National Civil War Centre.

OUTREACH NEWS

Today we welcomed Year 6 pupils from The Shrubbery School as part of an Enrichment day jointly hosted with KES. The boys and girls enjoyed a Robotics workshop led by Dr Chatwin where they worked with Lego robots, and a Puppetry and Mask workshop with Miss Proops where they did some great improvisation.

BIRMINGHAM SCHOOL GAMES

​We had huge success at the Birmingham School Games yesterday, with girls competing in rowing and badminton. In rowing, our Year 9 team won their team relay, with the Year 10 team coming in second and the Year 11 team coming in third for their year groups.

HARRY POTTER BOOK NIGHT

Being the first time KEHS has taken part in Harry Potter Book Night, and we were the only school in Birmingham to do so, I was concerned that perhaps J.K.Rowling’s creation had waned in popularity – but I shouldn’t have feared as students across the school took part with gusto!

THIRDS ROMAN DAY

​On Friday 27th January, the Thirds enjoyed a carousel of activities to complement their studies of Latin. The highlight of the day was a session with the visiting Roman Soldier who shared his wealth of knowledge about the Roman World with the girls.

​Last night was the first of three performances of this year’s Senior Production Much Ado About Nothing. The cast performed to a packed out Ruddock Hall and the first night of the production was extremely well received by the audience.

​Two teams from KEHS competed in the Oxford Schools Debate last night hosted by Solihull School. Both teams delivered accomplished, articulate and thoughtful speeches which belied their lack of debating experience.

HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY

​Today marks 72 years since the liberation of the largest Nazi Death Camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau. To recognise the importance of this day, a group of teachers and students put together an assembly in which the atrocities of the Holocaust were respectfully commemorated.
