On Tuesday 12th December, parents, students, staff, governors and university academics gathered at the Lapworth Museum of Geology at the University of Birmingham for a private viewing of the KEHS exhibition, ‘Rock paper scissors.’
On Friday 1st December, the Lower Fifth Food Studies group went to the NEC for the BBC Good Food Show. We were welcomed by the bustling atmosphere of the public and many other schools, all there for one reason: FOOD!!

On Monday, Russian A Level students were lucky enough to be able to communicate with our Russian peers studying in Moscow over Skype. Not only were we able to practise our Russian language skills by asking questions and engaging in chat; we also learnt about the life of teenagers in Russia...
Over the last two weeks, the Library has been running its seasonal Book Fair in conjunction with Scholastic Publishing. We were able to secure a special promotion making absolutely every item half price! It was very well attended by both students and staff, with everyone doing some early Christmas shopping.
On Wednesday we welcomed Lucy Dolan, Early Talent Manager from Gowling WLG, into school to give a lunchtime talk about routes into the legal profession. Upper School KEHS and KES students gathered in the Lecture Theatre to hear about the commercial legal services that Gowling provides and their impressive global reach
On Friday 1st December, members of the Sixth Form had the opportunity to take part in Question Time, in which we asked members of the Labour, Green, Conservative and Liberal parties their opinions on issues important to us.
On Thursday 7th December, KEHS Chamber Orchestra performed Warlock’s Capriol Suite and Britten’s Simple Symphony in the lunchtime recital. The orchestra played fantastically bringing both works to life with their energy and drive. Congratulations to all 26 girls involved.
Alice (bass guitar), Kate (guitar), Emilia (guitar), Eleanor (drums) and Priya (guitar) performed solos in the Guitar and Drums Instrumental Evening which took place on Monday 4th December in the Ruddock Hall.
On Tuesday evening, Oxford undergraduate Sulamaan Rahim, reading PPE at Wadham College, came to KEHS to deliver a debating workshop. He introduced the British Parliamentary style of debating and what to expect at the Oxford University Schools' Debating Competition.
Portia and Roni in the Lower Sixth competed at the Historical Association Great Debate this week delivering speeches on the most significant event in British democratic history. After a very high standard of speeches by all competitors, Portia was declared the overall winner!
Congratulations to Shivani in the Lower Fourth for achieving her black belt in karate! Shivani, who has been learning karate since the age of five has just completed her 12 month black belt course, which incorporated coursework as well as intensive karate training.
A team of four gifted Upper Sixth and Upper Fifth mathematicians competed in the regional round of the UK Senior Mathematics Team Challenge last week.
This week Mr Jarvis delivered a thought provoking assembly about the ivory trade and the decline of the elephant population. He highlighted the increasing probability that elephants will become extinct within our lifetime.
On Thursday 30th November, we welcomed parents, governors and VIPs to KEHS for Speech Day – a celebration of this year’s phenomenal GCSE results, and the hard work that made those results possible.
On Wednesday 22nd November, Asyia Iftikhar, Priyanka Kaushal and Cerian Richmond-Jones presented their research findings at a Sixth Form Seminar lunch in front of parents, guests, staff and their close friends. Asyia spoke about ‘The Mu’tazilites and the Translation Movement'.
On the 28th of November, Russian A-level students attended a conference, held at Oxford High School. The day consisted of multiple lectures from a variety of speakers including an official from the Russian embassy and two professors from the University of Oxford.
This week, Sinali Gunarathne from the Lower Sixth delivered an assembly to encourage girls to donate any unwanted or unused books to rural schools in Sri Lanka.
Congratulations to Aditi in the Lower Fourth for her string of successes in a number of Badminton England Tournaments! Aditi, who recently won the Gold Medal in the Girls’ Singles Under 15 Tournament, is now ranked 11th in the Under 15 England Rankings and 148th for all ages and adults combined in the England rankings.
