Archives Club takes place in the Old Girls' Room, a space bequeathed by an important Old Edwardian many decades ago. We began the second year of the Club with great success and interest shown at the recent Open Morning and the reunion of former girls, who visited the Room earlier in the week.
The A2 Theatre Studies students performed their examination piece of John Godber's Shakers on Tuesday evening to a packed out studio with Imogen, Alice, Laura and Megan delivering an outstanding performance.
On Wednesday 21st September, we welcomed back Old Edwardians from the Classes of 1966 and 1956 to celebrate their Golden and Diamond Reunions. More than 30 Old Eds came from far and wide to celebrate with us, some for the first time since they left school.
In August the Living History Group travelled to the Danish Middle Ages Centre for two weeks. Eight girls, in a joint trip with KES, helped to run the centre, participating in medieval jousts, shooting the largest trebuchet in the world and learning from internationally renowned historians.
On Friday 16th September Upper 5th art students and a select group of Lower 6th girls, led by newly appointed Head of Art Mr Bassett, went on a trip to the Lapworth Museum of Geology.
On Wednesday lunchtime the Thirds attended their extra-curricular launch, where they heard all about the huge variety of clubs and activities on offer to them. They were encouraged by teachers and older girls running clubs to get involved, try something new and make the most of the opportunities on offer
On Tuesday all the Lower Sixth girls attended a seminar run by a visiting company, Elevate, who send in young graduates to share their tips for success. Birmingham University graduate Jacob explained that revision should really be practising past papers and not making notes
On Tuesday the Lower 5th Latinists headed to Caerleon, near Newport, where there are the remains of a major Roman legionary camp. We spent time in the excellent museum looking for primary sources on a range of topics. Well done to those who found a picture of Romulus and Remus on a tiny coin!
On Thursday 15th September all of the Upper 5th went to London to visit the Houses of Parliament as part of their Personal Decision Making course. They had the chance to visit the House of Commons and the House of Lords while the houses were in session.
During the summer holidays, 16 girls, Miss Masterson, Miss Woods and Mrs Link, set off on a Scuba Diving adventure to the Mexican Island of Cozumel.
This summer has seen four Duke of Edinburgh expeditions take place, three at Gold level and one at Silver. Girls have coped very well with rain, heat, mud, hills, cows, misleading signposts and all the other challenges of three and four day expeditions.
While most of KEHS enjoyed the first lie-in of their summer holidays, at 7.00am on 7th July, 49 girls and six members of staff gathered to begin a 25-hour coach journey to Veneto province, Italy, for what one sixth former described as “the best way to end my time at KEHS”.
Lauren has been awarded first prize in the Ettlingen International Piano Competition in the 15 and under category. Part of the Alink-Argerich Foundation, the Ettlingen Competition is the most prestigious competition for young pianists worldwide.

All girls took part in a PADI Open Water diving course, which involved four dives, a quick theory test and learning a couple of drills to make the underwater experience
Well done to Saffron who raised almost £60 last year in aid of the victims of the flooding in Kasmir. The money, which converts to around 5000 rupees, went towards the relief and rehabilitation of victims in the area.
Over the summer, four Upper 5th girls were waiting for other news apart from GCSE grades. In July, all four were awarded prestigious Arkwright Scholarships for Engineering.
