Margaret Davis Lunchtime Recital

On Thursday, the first Lunchtime recital of the year, the Miss Margaret Davis Memorial Recital, named after a generous benefactor to the Music Department, was held in the Ruddock Hall. It featured Jessica and Charlotte, playing the violin and oboe respectively, in what were their final solo recitals at KEHS.

Beach Clean

On Saturday 15th September, 16 Lower Fourth girls travelled to Sand Bay, near Weston, to be involved with a beach clean organised by the Marine Conservation Society. Ex-Olympic Swimmer Sharon Davies, a patron for the Charity, opened the clean and the girls got to work clearing up the beach and removing litter.

Last week the Upper Fifth attended their first careers talks of the Autumn term. Each girl chose to listen to one of three talks by visiting speakers. Steve Ward of KPMG spoke about a career in finance and the routes open to new entrants. Dr Emily Russell (OE 2012) talked to girls about medical school.

National Portrait Gallery Visit

​On Friday 14th September, 30 Art students from the Upper School embarked on a visit to the National Portrait Gallery in London. They visited the Michael Jackson ‘On the Wall’ Exhibit, showcasing a variety of pieces honouring his life and career in a multitude of ways, including film and sculpture.

Trip to CERN

In August, three KEHS physicists, Blessing, Lucia and Jessica, travelled to Geneva, Switzerland, for five days of all things particle physics at CERN - the European Organisation for Nuclear Research. They were joined by three boys from KES, and students from schools across London.

The 39 Steps

On Tuesday evening our Lower Fifth GCSE Drama students went on their first live theatre trip to see The 39 Steps at The Crescent Theatre, Birmingham. It was an incredibly inventive production with just four actors performing over 30 roles, with numerous settings being re-imagined using only four benches.

Aliyah in the Upper Fifth has been shortlisted for Birmingham's Young Poet Laureate award.
