Edexcel GCSE Astronomy Exam

Congratulations to Nikita in the Upper Fifth who has received a certificate from the Royal Astronomical Society to recognise her achievement of coming in the top 12 pupils nationally in last summer’s Edexcel GCSE Astronomy exam.​

On Saturday 30th September, 44 Upper Sixth students had the opportunity to be interviewed in preparation for courses at Oxford, Cambridge and Medicine. The students experienced rigorous and challenging questions, which required a high level of lateral thinking.

GCSE Results

King Edward VI High School for Girls is celebrating yet another set of outstanding GCSE results; girls achieved 82% A* grades and 97% A*/A, outperforming last year’s record results, which had in turn broken the previous year’s record results.

IMOK OLYMPIAD 2017

Well done to the six girls who qualified for the Intermediate Mathematical Olympiad and Kangaroo this year. Simren, Naomi, Ami, Jiali, Kirsten and Jessica all performed extremely well, with Ami and Jiali both receiving merits and Naomi receiving a distinction.

EXTREME PHYSICS COMPETITION

During the holidays Renee, Katrina, Nikita and Jaya gave up three days to compete in the Extreme Physics competition. The first challenge was to make a one minute timer out of given sand, matches, an empty 2 litre bottle, bulbs and other odd pieces of equipment.
