Fantastic Fencing

It has been a good term for fencing at KEHS. In February, Ella, Hannah and Melissa all qualified for the British Youth Championships, one of the UK’s largest fencing competitions. At the qualifying competition, in the Under 16 girls’ foil, Hannah was placed 3rd whilst Melissa achieved 2nd place. In the Under 18 girls’ foil, Ella’s performance resulted in her achieving 3rd place.

Well done to our fencers who also took part in the KES Open Fencing competition on March 1st. In the 14 Plus Epee, Melissa came 9th and was also the best placed girl in the event. In the 14 Plus Foil, Maya came 19th, Lauren came 18th, Maryam came 17th and Lucy achieved 15th place. Hannah and Melissa both received the Best in Pool award. These were very pleasing results, especially as this was the first time that many of the girls had taken part in a competitive fencing event.
