Sixth Form Religious Studies Talk

On Thursday 24th January, Upper Sixth Religious Studies students heard a talk by Michael Wee, the education and research officer at the Anscombe Bioethics Centre in Oxford. Mr Wee discussed the foundations of Aquinas’ ‘Natural Law’ theory and explained how this influences and shapes the Catholic Church’s stance on euthanasia. The talk enabled students to understand Aquinas in a more nuanced light; in particular the concepts of human freedom and rationality, as well as the preservation of life instinct. Thank you to Mr Wee for giving up his time to speak to our students.
