Physics Fair

Lower Sixth Physicists presented the results of their month long practical investigations on Friday 28th June and Tuesday 2nd July. The topics for investigation were chosen by the investigator and varied widely, including the shape of flags (based on how they flapped), the sound of woodwind instruments (varying with shape), the strength of arches, how sugar solution rotates polarised light, and how hair weakens if washed with soap! Academic posters were made and delivered ready to show to staff and pupils. The investigators were quizzed by those with a great knowledge of maths (thank you, Mr Kavanagh) or physics as well as those who needed more basic explanations. This was a valuable experience for our Lower Sixth physicists and everyone learned something.
