Senior Production

This year’s Senior Production, directed by Mrs Higgins from KES, runs from Thursday 25th to Saturday 27th January and includes a talented cast of 45 actors evenly split across KEHS and KES; 12 talented musicians are also providing the lively soundtrack, led by Musical Director Mr Jarvis.

‘Oh What A Lovely War,’ created originally by Joan Littlewood in 1963, is an apt and thought provoking way to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War. The play is a highly unconventional one and is extremely challenging to stage in terms of performance and design. It is a political play which challenges our nostalgic views of war in the 20th Century and aims to provide a voice for the ordinary soldier. Whilst both entertaining and funny, it is a play designed to provoke an emotional response and potentially change the views of its audience. The cast and crew have worked incredibly hard to provide a fabulous production that resonates strongly with the playwright’s original intention, with characters coming and going, and costume and design used to signify stereotypes and status. Once again the Drama and Music Departments of KEHS and KES have excelled themselves and produced a show that is powerful, moving and visually beautiful.
