Religious Studies Business Ethics Talk

As a part of Religious Studies, A Level students investigate business ethics and consider the practicalities of whether or not a business can ever be ethical and how this is expressed through corporate social responsibility. To help students to explore these ideas, on Wednesday 28th November, Louise Mardling from the global company Solvay visited the school. She spoke about how, within Solvay, being ethical is believed to make good business sense. She spent time explaining the ethical code of conduct, which all of their employees have to agree to and how this governs every decision they make in their dealings with customers, the public at large and members of their organisation. Time was also spent explaining how Solvay tries to reduce their carbon footprint to help protect the environment for the future. The Religious Studies Department would like to thank Louise Mardling for giving up her time to come into school.
