On Wednesday 8th March, women across the world celebrated International Women’s Day, with this year’s campaign theme being #BeBoldForChange.

In Tuesday’s assembly, girls in the Sixth Form told us about Jess Phillips, the MP for the constituency of Birmingham Yardley who has recently had a book published called Everywoman. She is currently running a twitter campaign using the hashtag #Everywoman– the idea is that you tweet and tag a woman that inspires you, and for every person that tweets using the hashtag, a book will be donated to a women’s refuge (in conjunction with the national charity Women’s Aid). Twitter users are encouraged to get involved by joining in the campaign and contributing to a great cause! You can find more about this on our assembly blog.
