IGCSE Geography Field Trip

The first part of our day involved a visit to Blythe Valley Business Park. We then moved onto Monkspath, a residential area of Solihull, which we were then able to compare with Sparkhill, Shirley and the Central Business District. Our next stop was Birmingham city centre where I even managed to buy a Christmas jumper, which was one of the highlights of my day! After our small dose of retail therapy, we were able to explore the social, economic and environmental sustainability of some major developments in Birmingham’s city centre. At this point we were bombarded with Mrs Cowan’s geographical facts about the area, another highlight of the day. Did you know, for example, that over 95% of the material used to construct Grand Central is recycled? After a long day in Birmingham, we made our way back to school, armed with knowledge that will be vital for success in our IGCSE studies.
