There was a buzz of activity in the Hall and Music Studio after school hours on Tuesday as students from the Upper 4th through to the Sixth Form visited various stands and listened to career presentations. The Careers Fair offered the opportunity for students to ask questions about a wide range of careers from exhibitors who enthusiastically shared stories of their professional journeys, carried out fun demonstrations from their field (spaghetti and marshmallows for the civil engineers) and provided insight into the day-to-day practice of their professions. The benefits of events such of these to our students are manifold; sparking careers ideas, confirming required GCSE and A Level choices and I also hope building confidence as students learn the important art of networking, asking pertinent questions and directing their own career journeys. The lure of chocolates, sweets and brownies was an added bonus!

I am extremely grateful to Old Edwardians, parents, local (and not so local) businesses and members of staff who gave up their time to support our students for this event. I would also like to thank colleagues who helped to organise this event in many different ways.

May I take this opportunity to remind everyone to hand in any feedback sheets, as it will help us with future events.
