A Level Results

Upper Sixth girls at KEHS have once again triumphed at A Level. An astounding 91.4% achieved A*-B, but even more impressively, 31% achieved A* and 74% A*/A. There were, of course, some stellar performances, but swathes of girls were hugely successful; remarkably 15 girls gained 3 or more A*s and 53 were awarded at least 3 A*/A grades. 11 girls have gained places at Oxford and Cambridge.

Bucking the national trend of under-representation of women in STEM subjects, many of the girls are going on to study sciences and engineering at top universities. At least 18 have won places to read medicine and 3 will study dentistry. 41% of the year took Maths and 46% took Biology.

Nationally the numbers of students taking foreign languages have fallen dramatically but 34% of the KEHS Upper 6th took at least one modern foreign language: French, Spanish, German and Italian.

Principal Ann Clark said “These fantastic results are a testimony to the dedication of our girls and staff. I’m delighted that so many have gained places at their first choice of university and I’m confident they will flourish there.More importantly perhaps is the fact that our girls are pursuing their individual interests and passions and are going on to study a really broad range of subjects at top universities. Our high achievers are not simply outstanding academics either. Most have also played a full part in the life of the school, excelling at sport, music, dance, debating and a whole range of other activities.
