Lifesaving Club

On Tuesday 26th January 2010 (Australia Day!) the Lifesaving Club attended their lunchtime session to find their pool had been transformed into a beach scene complete with a lifeguard station, beach umbrella, beach towels, beach balls and inflatables! Of course the girls thought that this was going to be splash session but soon found out that this was set up for them to learn what sort of incidents can happen at the beach. Among the emergencies was a swimmer being blown out to sea on her inflatable due to offshore winds, a swimmer being swept against the rocks whilst body boarding, a sand bank collapsing under the waves causing multiple casualties. Even on the beach there were some incidents needing urgent attention, a child choking on a sweet and a sand dune burying another child. All the rescuers recognised the casualties and dealt with them quickly. Well done lifesavers!

It all looks very happy now but minutes earlier Heather was choking on a sweet and due to the swift actions of the lifesavers she was quickly relieved of the obstruction.
Emma Newman, Danielle Hendley and Anuja Pathak have been safely brought back to shore after being rescued by the quick thinking lifesavers who noticed their inflatable being blown out to sea!
