A Level Examination Success 2009

Well done to all of our girls who have achieved another excellent set of A level results. The percentage of grades A and B achieved is 95.3% (excluding general studies). The girls have excelled in all areas, both traditionally academic and more creative subjects, achieving 100% Grade A passes in subjects ranging from History and German to Art, Music, Latin, Greek and Russian.  100% of girls who sat  Physics ‘A’ level achieved grades A and B, with Chemistry students gaining an impressive 91% pass rate at grades A and B. Maths was another high achieving subject with 95% of girls obtaining grades A and B.

In this year's group of 82 girls, 11 achieved 5 grade As, 39 girls gained 4 or more grade As, 58 achieved 3 or more grade As and 33 of our girls obtained all grade As.

Sarah Evans commented, ‘The debate about whether A levels are getting easier is an annual occurrence at this time of year. It is important that standards are maintained, but all examinations, both practical and theoretical, will have strengths and weaknesses. We mustn’t lose sight of the individual efforts put in by each and every one of the girls who sit ‘A’ levels to do the best they possibly can. KEHS strives to create an environment where each girl is encouraged to fulfil her own potential, whether in traditionally challenging academic subjects or the wide range of non-examination experiences the school offers. The key to success is enjoying learning and nurturing self-confidence and belief that the world really is your oyster if you put your mind to it.’
