Researchers of the Future
Miss Evans met with several members of the U5th over tea and cakes recently to discuss enrichment work completed by the pupils. Inspired by suggestions in the L5th 'Widening Horizons' booklet they put in a great deal of time and effort to produce some absorbing and interesting pieces of work.
Mishal Zahoor in U5C wrote a paper on a number of fascinating biological phenomena, answering questions such as why do onions make you cry and what causes a lump in the throat when people are upset. She also undertook a practical investigation into the effects of temperature on the knee jerk reflex and prepared a leaflet concerning the workings of the
brain. Maheen Gill of the same form wrote articles about the vaccine for cervical cancer, depression and healthcare for the elderly. These were very thought-provoking reports concerning currently relevant topics.
Nida Mushtaq of U5B put together a comprehensive account of joint structure, disease and treatment.
Their work is on display outside Lab 5. It is recommended that you take some time to read these impressive reports.
