Library: Author Visit
Brian Moses’ visit was enjoyable for everyone. We were captivated by the unpredictable mood changes throughout the talk: one minute we were laughing at his humorous poem about a shopping trolley, the next, almost in tears when listening to a more sombre poem about the first dog in space (who died).
We also loved his engaging use of drums etc. that really brought the poems’ strong rhythms to life. He said he used instruments because he had moved onto writing poetry from writing songs (he was in a rock band) and it seemed natural to use instruments.
The other things we learnt about him were that the first poem he wrote was to a girl he fancied (who never went out with him) and he has chickens and a dog. He also talked about how inspiration comes from anywhere and everywhere – so we just need to keep our eyes open!
