On Tuesday 29th September, twenty of our girls participated in the Mathematical Olympiad for Girls. This is a national competition to discover the best female mathematicians in the country.

GCSE Astronomy Success!

Congratulations to Kiran Saini, Natasha Bhole, Melissa Yao and Maria Skaria in the Upper Fifth who have all been awarded certificates by the Royal Astronomical Society for being one of the top 12 highest performing students in the country in their GCSE Astronomy examinations.​

RS Girls Win Awards Celebrating Cultural Diversity

The creative talents of Maha Salman and Laura Stevens were recognised at a glittering Awards ceremony held recently in a top London hotel. Laura's poem 'A Powerful Force' was chosen as the overall winner from over 1800 entries in the NASUWT creative writing section of the National ‘Arts and Minds’ competition.

Incredible Poetry Success for Pratiksha!

Congratulations to Pratiksha Saha who has been named Young Poet of the Year by the Foyle Publishing Company. This is an incredibly prestigious competition with over 12,000 entries each year. Pratiksha received her award from the poet Liz Berry at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

Exchange visit to Canada

Laura Stevens and Safaa Baig in the Upper Fourth have just started their one month’s stay at York House School, Vancouver as part of our International Links Scheme. The girls have settled in well and the trip is proving to be an amazing experience.

Upper Fifth visit to Beth Shalom National Holocaust memorial Museum

On Wednesday 14th October, the Upper Fifth went on a Religious Studies and History visit to Beth Shalom National Holocaust Memorial Museum. The visit to the museum certainly offered the girls an experience which went beyond documents, maps and classroom discussions.

Performers’ Platform

The first Performers’ Platform of the year took place on Tuesday 13th October. Jieyi Li performed the first movement of Sonata for flute and piano by Donizetti. Naima Hamid played her pieces ‘Preludio Triston’ and ‘Se Ela Perguntar’ beautifully on the guitar.

Music Success for Naomi!

On Saturday 17th September, Naomi Bazlov participated in the Birmingham Music Festival. She won both her age group class (11-13 years old) and the Junior Recital class (under 17) for piano.

Model UN

At the start of October, seventeen girls attended the fifteenth annual Model United Nations conference at Cheadle Hulme School in Manchester. KEHS were given two countries to represent: South Sudan and the Ivory Coast. Each girl participated in debates on issues currently facing the UN as part of ten committees.

Lower Fourth Geography Trip

​This week, the Lower Fourth ventured to Cardingmill Valley in Shropshire for a day of rivers fieldwork which complements their studies in the classroom. Girls had the opportunity to admire the beautiful surroundings of the valley and make an accurate sketch of the Lightspout waterfall.

The RS department has been fortunate this term to welcome speakers who have added enrichment to community life and to RS lessons. The Reverend Anthony Perry of St Mary's Church in Bearwood led our Harvest assembly from a platform filled with gifts which will be distributed to those in need through a local Christian..

Upper Fifth GCSE Art trip to Newlyn, Cornwall

​As part of their GCSE Art and Design course, the Upper Fifth recently visited Newlyn in Cornwall. The theme for their current project is 'Cornwall' which involves investigating the work of both the ‘Newlyn School’ of painters and the ‘St Ives’ groups of artists.
