Sculpture Artist Workshop

Last week some of our Lower 4th students took part in a ‘Ceramic Sculpture’ workshop delivered by the internationally renowned artist, Rosamonde Ingram. The girls worked on creating 3D ceramic sculptures of cockerels.

Emanuel Piano Trophy Competition

On Saturday 2nd May, Naomi Bazlov and Lauren Zhang participated in the Emanuel Piano Trophy competition, in North London, which is one of the most prestigious competitions within the festival movement: it is open to winners of the top senior piano award at any music festival during the previous year.

Thank You Film Awards 2015

The ‘Thank You’ Film Awards aim to recognise the way in which young people show gratitude and kindness to others. We are pleased to announce that a number of films made by our girls have been shortlisted for the regional finals. The girls will be attending an Awards Ceremony on 11th June.

Salter’s Festival of Chemistry – The University of Birmingham

​On Wednesday 22nd April, Amy Clabon, Emily Fox, Jiali Lu and Sheida Malaki in the Thirds took part in the Salter’s Festival of Chemistry at the University of Birmingham, the aim of which is to promote the appreciation of Chemistry amongst young people.

Kilimanajaro Charity Walk

​On Tuesday, the Sports Committee organised a charity event in aid of Breast Cancer Care and Meningitis Now. The challenge involved a collective walk up and down the school stairs 1024 times, which was apparently equal to climbing to the summit of Kilimanjaro and then descending the mountain.

An Evening of Middle School Drama

On Thursday night we celebrated the work of our drama clubs with a fabulous ‘Middle School Evening of Drama’. We saw a hugely entertaining selection of sketches, duologues and scenes from the Lower 4th, Upper 4th and Lower 5th. Thank you to all involved and especially to Miss Reilly who directed the show.

Rowing Success and Swimming Success

Congratulations to Imogen Brown who won a bronze medal at the Junior Inter-regional regatta on Saturday representing the West Midlands in the girls ‘16s, 8’ event. The best crews from twelve regions were competing! Congratulations also go to our KEHS swimming team who won the Minchin Cup this week.

HART Competition: Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust

The HART Prize for Human Rights aims to engage young people in the UK with their partners around the world. Asyia Iftikhar entered the ‘Junior Creative Category’ and wrote a poem called ‘The Lion and the Lamb’ about South Sudan which resulted in her being shortlisted for the final of the competition.
