Opus Event: The Rising Problem of Homelessness

On Monday 9th October, Sixth Form students attended a public discussion focusing on the ‘Rising Problem of Homelessness’ at Opus Restaurant in Birmingham City Centre. The talk focused on a range of issues including ethics, economics, politics and philosophy. Students were inspired by the practical approach which the panel proposed, in particular, the panel’s vision to address the root causes of homelessness, rather than treat its symptoms. It was encouraging to see so many people, from various walks of life, come together to share their knowledge and insights. The event clearly stimulated students’ interests in this important societal issue and, as the girls left the event, they were asking far more questions than they arrived with - a sure sign of an informative and inspiring discussion!
