Duke of Edinburgh Practice Expeditions

During the Easter break girls in the Upper 5th and Lower 6th completed their Duke of Edinburgh's Award practice expeditions in glorious weather. 27 Upper 5th girls took three days out from revision and walked between Lapworth and Stratford Stations for their Silver Practice. They demonstrated great teamwork and showed a good improvement in the navigation skills they had learnt on their Bronze expedition last year.

19 Lower 6th girls also spent five days in Yorkshire. During this time they completed a practice expedition and were also given detailed training in the skills required to journey in “Wild Country”. One group decided on a particularly demanding route for their test in the summer, setting out to scale all of the Yorkshire Three Peaks; Whernside, Pen-y-Ghent and Ingleborough. 12 more girls will undertake their practice in July, so five groups will be assessed at the end of August. We look forward to hearing about their adventures, and wish them every success.
