African Drumming Workshop

On Wednesday, the Thirds and Lower 4th participated in an African Drumming Workshop organised by the Music Department. Everyone was given a Djembe drum so that they could participate in an unforgettable event, which provided an insight into the sounds, beats and energy of an African village and tribal life. During the workshop, which was delivered by a company called Unbeatable Energy, girls were shown how to make different sounds on the traditional West African drums and taught simple multi-part rhythms. They also enjoyed trying out some improvised dancing which traditionally goes hand in hand with African drumming.

Following the snow this weekend, the site has been cleared and will be gritted in the morning, but please wear sensible footwear and take care when walking around the site.
