About King Edward VI High School for Girls

King Edward VI High School for Girls was founded in 1883 and is one of the leading independent schools in the UK.

Based in the leafy suburb of Edgbaston, the school shares a 50-acre site with King Edward’s School, which provides extensive space and facilities matched by few day schools in the country.

King Edward VI High School for Girls is a school with around 650 pupils aged from 11 to 18. Our school is synonymous with intellectual ambition, with a mission to offer an unrivalled education to the brightest girls in and around Birmingham irrespective of their social or economic background.

Our girls contribute to academic journals, win extraordinary awards and go onto study at the best universities. Exceptional results are not the aims of our education, although they open many doors – they are the natural consequence of an inspiring, broad and interconnected education which enables all girls to make excellent progress and develop their individual strengths and passions.

The buzz in lessons and girls’ fierce curiosity and insights are hallmarks of the love of learning that fills our school, both in and out of the classroom.

We are always looking for opportunities to develop our academic offering, ensuring it fully prepares students for life and work in the 21st century. In recent years, alongside the traditional curriculum, we have introduced subjects including Mandarin, Leadership, Enterprise, GCSE PE, GCSE Computer Science, GCSE Design and Technology, and Politics, Philosophy and Economics.

A KEHS education provides our students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in whatever path they choose. If you’re considering sending your daughter here, please do visit to experience King Edward VI High School for Girls for yourselves.
